Paralympian Oscar Pistorius's court bid to prevent the State from appealing his conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal has been turned down.
His lawyers wanted to appeal Judge Thokozile Masipa's decision granting the State leave to appeal his conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal.
Pistorius is currently serving five years in prison for culpable homicide related to the shooting of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp two years ago, claiming he mistook her for an intruder.
Judge Masipa, in the High Court in Johannesburg on Friday, said she was not satisfied that this was the correct court to hear the application.
She also said there was “really nothing new in the submissions by counsel for the applicant”.
The judge struck Pistorius’ appeal against the State's appeal off the court roll.
