Acting National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Khomotso Phahlane's legal woes will be in the spotlight at a meeting in Parliament on Thursday.

Police Minister Nathi Nhleko has been summoned to address Parliament's police committee on the latest controversial reports around Phahlane.

The commissioner has been in the spotlight following an investigation by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) into his lifestyle.

IPID is investigating Phahlane over a property which allegedly cost R8-million. His car collection has also been added to the scope of the investigation.

In January the watchdog carried out a search and seizure raid on Phahlane's home at the exclusive Sable Hills Waterfront Estate and removed a sound system.

The police committee will also consider the Claassen report on former national commissioner Riah Phiyega's fitness to hold office.

The report was referred to the committee by the Speaker.

Phiyega has since launched a review application for the Claassen report to be set aside.

It recommended that she be dismissed for her role in the police shooting of 34 miners in Marikana in 2012 during an illegal strike at Lonmin mine.
