The City’s Urban Mobility Directorate wants to inform residents and commuters that the intersection of Andries Pretorius Street and Church Street in Somerset West will be partially closed to traffic from Monday, 22 Aug 22 until 09 September 2022. Traffic will be impacted during this time. Read more below:
Church Street will be closed for the duration of the construction period, thus, no through traffic will be allowed from Reitz Street via Church Street to Andries Pretorius Street.
The traffic signals will be switched off to allow free flow of traffic through the Church/Andries Pretorius Street intersection to reduce delays at the Andries Pretorius Street and Victoria Street intersection.
‘This is a fairly busy intersection in Somerset West and we anticipate that there may be congestion. Thus, we appeal to motorists to please consider using alternative routes if possible, while construction is underway. We also encourage residents to factor in travelling time and to anticipate delays,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
