At a council meeting yesterday, 06 February, the DA tabled a motion to end cadre deployment in the Beaufort West council. The PA/ANC voted against this motion, saying that it belongs in the “rubbish bin."
Over the last two years, the PA/ANC governing coalition in Beaufort West has wasted millions of rands on creating acting positions in the municipality and purging employees to accommodate their cadres. This is causing instability within the administration and burdening taxpayers with unnecessary litigation costs.
Although the DA is extremely concerned about the PA and ANC’s blatant support for corruption and cadre deployment, not only in Beaufort West, but in other local governments as well, we are not surprised. These bedfellows have been showing the true nature of their relationship for quite some time.
We make a very serious call on the residents of Beaufort West to take heed of these two parties, who are actively working together, not in the interest of the people, but to only enrich themselves and their cronies.
We also make an urgent call for stricter adherence to employment regulations with oversight from the relevant administrative leadership.
