Following the Speaker of Parliament's decision to hold the motion of no confidence vote under a secret ballot, OUTA is both pleasantly surprised and welcoming of her decision.

"It certainly removes the possibility of any threats of intimidation that may have played out, if MP’s had wanted to vote against the President,” says Wayne Duvenage, OUTA’s Chairperson. "However, this doesn’t guarantee the President will be removed. We will now find out if there is sufficient moral courage for the ANC MP’s to make what many believe is the right decision - to remove a corrupt president from office.”

Whatever the outcome of tomorrow's vote, South Africa is poised for change and if Jacob Zuma is still in office after the motion of no confidence on 8th August, the heat placed on the ANC to remove him as their head - or at least the country’s president - will become untenable.

There is no doubt the ANC is at its weakest point in its entire history today. It is hard to imagine how one person, Jacob Zuma, has been able to decimate this once great and proud political movement to a level where it will struggle to win a national election within the next two years.
