Home Affairs Director-General Mkuseli Apleni invites the media to an off-the-record briefing wherein will be clarified the matter of working hours for front offices as well as current issues relating to the Department of Home Affairs.
The briefing is meant to share information on the upcoming conciliation between the Department and Public Servants Association (PSA) and other unions on the implementation of new working and closing hours that were intended to broaden access for citizens and clients. The conciliation, as per recent decision of the Constitutional Court, is next Tuesday, 6 June 2017. Insights will be shared on what the public should expect out of this process and the likely next steps.
A platform will be created for journalists to ask questions on this and related matters of the day, to understand fully what informs the Department’s approach. There will be sufficient time for questions and discussions following the DG’s presentation, and adequate opportunities for attributable, on-the-record statements and material.
