Council will sit for the third time to try to hear the Motion of No Confidence (MoNC) in the EFF Puppet Mayor, Ald Sivuyile Ngodwana following destructive and violent collapses of the previous council meetings by the EFF, in an effort to keep their mayor in power and their hands on the public purse.

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the City of Ekurhuleni is renewing our call for council to be dissolved and fresh elections to take place.

The unabated collapse of service delivery under the watch of the ANC/EFF coalition, coupled with prolonged water outages, failing electrical infrastructure and the dysfunctionality of council has become the norm of the day. while the EFF Speaker continues to protect her party in council by facilitating the collapse of meetings.

We cannot continue to allow this behaviour. The residents and businesses of Ekurhuleni deserve more!

Tomorrow, the DA will push to have our amendment to the Motion of No Confidence adopted and vote to dissolve council and have fresh elections. This way, we can begin to work to salvage what’s left of a once beautiful and thriving city.

Let the people speak!

Issued by Ald Tania Campbell - DA Leader in the City of Ekurhuleni
