Following the election of the new Mayor of Nongoma Local Municipality, Cllr Mshangane Clifford Ndabandaba,  the National Freedom Party promises to be guided by the teachings of the party’s President Zanele Magwaza-Msibi in rendering services to the local community.

She left a legacy of service to the people of Zululand District.  As part of the preservation of her legacy, we will ensure that we touch the lives of the people in all corners of Nongoma.

We are humbled by the show of confidence in the NFP by the African National Congress and Economic Freedom Fighters – our progressive coalition partners in the municipality.

We congratulate Deputy Mayor Cllr Sabelo Nkosi of the EFF and the Speaker Babongile Sithole from the ANC.

The NFP will work co-operatively with ANC and EFF to ensure the fulfilment of the objectives of local government as required by the Constitution of South Africa1996 Chapter 7.

We extend a hand of IFP councillors, especially those who have indicated their willingness to put behind the past and work towards the future.

We undertake to ensure that this municipality provides a democratic and accountable government for local communities. Working with all spheres of government, the Mayor as the first citizen on the municipality, will lead by example.

With the support from the entire NFP leadership, he will champion the provision of services to communities in a sustainable manner.

Good governance will also be on top of his agenda.

In this regard, the new Mayor will create sound relations with Provincial Treasury and Department of Co-operatives Governance and Traditional Affairs.

We want to make it clear that the time for unnecessary  political bickering is over.

As the NFP we have agreed on the need to ensure that all categories of staff work closely with  MEC Champion of Operation Sukuma Sakhe from the province. Starting with the mayor and office bearers, municipal workers  are expected to work with the Minister deployed as part of District Development Agency.

The NFP as a leading party in the municipality will keep doors open to all chapter nine institutions such as the Public Projector, Human Rights Commission as well as the Auditor General.

Critically, the NFP will work very closely with His Majesty Isilo Misuzulu KaZwelithini to drive all sectors of the economy in order to stimulate local economic development.

As the home of Zulu Royal Palaces, we have an ambition to make Nongoma an active social and economic center where investors can see the potential of rural areas as anchors of economic growth.
