The KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) and Productivity SA have announced further plans to expand programmes to improve the productivity and competitiveness of businesses in KwaZulu-Natal.
In a collaboration between government and business, The MEC of the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs, the Honourable MEC, Mr Ravi Pillay, will be the keynote speaker at an event aimed at outlining expansion plans for business improvement programmes.
The programme includes projects such as the Transnet Enterprise Development programme managed by Trade Investment KZN (TIKZN) with the KZN Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) also playing a role and the Economic Development Unit project Implementation of Buy Local Competitiveness Programme run by the eThekwini Municipality. The primary aim of the programmes is to grow and accelerate economic growth and job creation in the province. The Chief Executive Officer of Productivity SA Mr Mothunye Mothiba says, “SMMEs should be the focal point because they are a catalyst for employment growth and drive innovation. They are also crucial to the Future of Work (FoW), not just for employment and economic growth, but also to drive innovation and competition in markets”
