The Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Blade Nzimande, MP, will officiate at the graduation ceremony and the launch of the Education, Training and Development Practices (ETDP) SETA - Umgungundlovu TVET College Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) Assessment centre at Umgungundlovu TVET College, in Pietermaritzburg in the province of KwaZulu Natal on 11 April 2017.
The Education, Training and Development Practices (ETDP) SETA has initiated a pilot project on RPL which covers two NQF Level 4 programmes, namely the Further Education and Training Certificate: Early Childhood Development (ECD) and Further Education and Training Certificate: Community Development. There are thousands of workers and practitioners who have years of experience working in these sectors without formal qualifications from various sectors like government, NGOs or independently. This initiative seeks to determine and confirm the extent to which a candidate has achieved the required learning outcomes or competency standards associated with a specific qualification.
