The Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture, Nathi Mthethwa will officially launch Heritage Month 2021 on 02 September 2021 during a physical media briefing. This year’s Heritage month will be celebrated under the theme “The year of Charlotte Maxeke: Celebrating South Africa’s Intangible Cultural Heritage”.

The media briefing will provide a chance to introduce and explore the month's theme and emphasis areas. The topic and focal areas will lead national discussions and encourage participation in intangible cultural heritage programmes.
