The Mangaung Metro Municipality Council was informed that the suspended Municipal Manager has resigned, and that the Independent Investigator’s Report established that most of the charges of misconduct and maladministration, as tabled against the suspended Municipal Manager by the Democratic Alliance (DA) Mangaung Caucus, are substantiated.

This follows after the Speaker of the Council, Cllr. Siyonzana, on a previous occasion did not deal with the charges in the correct manner. The process followed was procedurally incorrect.

The DA did not shy away and started the procedure to table charges of alleged misconduct and maladministration against the suspended Municipal Manager. This process was also held up by the ANC-led Metro in defending their cadre, but yesterday the truth has surfaced, and the Independent Investigators found that our charges can be substantiated.

We note the resignation of the suspended Municipal Manager. We are adamant that the only true reason for his resignation is to avoid accountability for his actions of maladministration and misconduct.

We hope that the ANC leadership will inform the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) and that the record will be kept by the Minister of COGTA , but we know that we cannot trust the ANC government and therefore we as the DA will also write to the Minister of COGTA and the MEC of COGTA of the Free State so that the he cannot be redeployed in another Municipality and cause similar havoc than what was caused in MMM.

The DA will keep on monitoring where the suspended Municipal Manager of MMM are redeployed by the ANC and will bring it under the attention of the public.

In doing so, we will make sure that the suspended Municipal Manager of MMM will be held accountable for his misconduct and maladministration charges which was substantiated by the Independent Investigators.

Again, another victory for the DA Mangaung Caucus in this battle and the ongoing war against the ANC for not providing services to the residents of Mangaung.

Be assured that the DA will keep on fighting for the residents of MMM, but the only way that we can have real change is if you as the voters, vote us into government in the upcoming Local Government Elections.
