Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema is expected to visit the University of KwaZulu-Natal on Tuesday, in preparation for the party’s fourth birthday celebrations.
The event will be held at the Curries Fountain stadium in Durban on Saturday.
Malema previously told News24 that the party decided to hold the event in KwaZulu-Natal because it wants to end the African National Congress’s dominance in the province.
The EFF was launched on July 28, 2013, when Malema announced that the party had over 1000 registered members, double the 500 required for registration with the Electoral Commission of SA (IEC).
In the 2014 general elections, the party received 1.16-million votes, making it the country’s third official opposition.
In the August 2016 local government elections, the party got 2.44-million votes.
