MEC of Finance and e-Government Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will host the post 2022 Budget Breakfast and launch of Gauteng’s Own Revenue Enhancement Strategy tomorrow Tuesday, 05 April 2022.
The event, which is convened in partnership with the University of Pretoria, will be a platform for the academia, business and investment community, economists, and other stakeholders with interest in private sector’s participation in public sector financing to critically analyse Gauteng’s 2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework Budget.
Specific emphasis will be put on, amongst other things:
What are the strong areas of the Budget?
What can be improved?
Critical areas to focus on.
The event will also be used to launch Gauteng’s Own Revenue Enhancement Strategy. The strategy is aimed at maximising revenue collection to resource provincial priorities including health, education and facilitating economic growth and job creating in a challenging economic and fiscal environment.
The province of Gauteng which has a Gross Domestic Product by Region (GDP-R) of about R1.1 trillion contributes more than 35% to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and is one of the leading economies on the continent. Therefore, the Budget of the Gauteng Provincial Government plays a central role towards the realisation of the country’s developmental goals.
