South Africa recorded 109 more Covid-19-related deaths by Tuesday, bringing the recorded death toll to 21 644.
Of the 109 deaths, 36 were recorded in the Eastern Cape, 12 in the Free State, five in Gauteng, 12 in KwaZulu-Natal, 17 in North West and 27 in the Western Cape.
"We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers who treated the deceased patients," Health Minister Zweli Mkhize said in a statement on Tuesday evening. The cumulative total of Covid-19 cases recorded in South Africa is 792 299, with 2 295 new cases identified since the last report. Recoveries are at 732 531.
