KwaZulu-Natal Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs MEC Sboniso Duma’s office is warning the public about a Facebook account opened in his name.
Duma was recently appointed as African National Congress (ANC) chairperson in the province.
His office said it is communicating with Facebook to locate and close this account.
“The MEC is aware of the critical role played by social media and will in due course create a credible social media profile that will be communicated legitimately,“ his department said.
The MEC’s office is urging members of the public who may be aware of any suspicious social media platforms that are using the name of the MEC to contact his office immediately.
