The Johannesburg Social Housing Company (JOSHCO) is excited to announce the upcoming launch of the Ekhaya Gardens project on Tuesday, April 16, with the Executive Mayor of the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Kabelo Gwamanda, and the Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Human Settlements, Cllr Anthea Leitch, in attendance.

Situated on Vlakvoeltjie Street in Princess Plots, Roodepoort, the development features 333 rental units, including both one-bedroom and two-bedroom options, equipped with essential amenities for comfortable living.

Ekhaya Gardens enjoys a prime location near the Roodepoort CBD and various amenities, ensuring convenience for its residents. The development is equipped with a host of in-project facilities such as organised paved parking areas, laundry zones with T-pole washing lines, 24-hour security enhanced by biometric fingerprint access and CCTV surveillance, electrified fencing, an efficient geyser system, borehole, and a rainwater harvesting system.

Additionally, residents will have access to braai and play areas, a rowing garden, carports, paraplegic units, a facilities office, and a community office for meetings. Each block is designed to support recycling initiatives, fostering a wholesome living environment for all residents.

The total construction cost for the Ekhaya Gardens development amounted to R133,247,367, reflecting our commitment to providing and paying for quality affordable housing solutions in Johannesburg.

The application process for Ekhaya Gardens was conducted through an online QR Code system on 26 and 27 March, 2024, attracting an impressive 27,555 registrations. This overwhelming response highlights the acute need for affordable rental accommodation in Johannesburg for individuals earning between R1,850 and R22,000 per month.

At JOSHCO, we are committed to addressing the housing needs of Johannesburg communities, and the launch of Ekhaya Gardens represents a significant step forward in this. We look forward to welcoming residents to their new homes and creating a vibrant and inclusive community at Ekhaya Gardens.
