The meeting which was attended by Members of the Executive Council forms part of the Premier’s Coordinating Forum to strengthen intergovernmental relations and cooperative governance.
The outlined investment and infrastructure projects include the expansion of water and sanitation plants, renewable energy, building schools and Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres of the future, industrial parks and the maintenance of health facilities.
“The transformation of Gauteng requires collaboration with all spheres of government to redirect resources to balance development in the entire Gauteng City Region, including enhancing opportunities presented by the fourth industrial revolution,” said Premier Makhura.
As part of the Growing Gauteng Together plan, government will be launching the Tshwane Automotive Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in November intended to cultivate economic growth. Following the meeting, municipalities will go back to the drawing board to align their plans to the Growing Gauteng Together 2030 plan, to build a globally competitive city region that will evolve into a single, multi-tier Special Economic Zone which will be an advanced manufacturing, agro-processing and artificial intelligence hub of Sub-Saharan Africa.
The province will be working with neighbouring provinces such as Limpopo, North-West, Mpumalanga and the Free State through joint inter-provincial planning, investments initiatives and infrastructure delivery.
