The Inkatha Freedom Party urges Minister in the Presidency, Jeff Radebe, to use
all means at his disposal to ensure the immediate repatriation of South Africans
killed in the church building collapse in Nigeria, back to South Africa.
IFP Secretary-General, Ms Sibonigile Nkomo, MP, said, ”It is absolutely criminal
that the Nigerian government have taken this long to repatriate the bodies of
the 85 South Africans killed back to South Africa. Families were not only torn
apart by this tragedy but now have to endure the added anguish of not yet being
able to lay their loved ones to rest.”
Ms Nkomo added that, ”Minister Radebe has a duty to the people of this country
to see to it that repatriation is expedited within the next few days. The time
for diplomacy is over. It has been nearly 60 days since the church collapsed.
The families who lost their loved ones must have closure. ”
