The IFP (Inkatha Freedom Party) in the KZN Legislature, as the Official Opposition, says the arrest of ANC eThekwini Regional Secretary, Musa Nciki, who is out on bail after his arrest on Wednesday for alleged reckless driving and operating an unlicensed vehicle, proves that no one is above the law.

We welcome the arrest of Mr. Musa Nciki. We also commend the traffic police for doing their job without fear or favor. Too many innocent lives have been lost on our public roads because of reckless driving.

Traffic offenders must be dealt with harshly, as they are responsible for road deaths, and driver attitudes towards road safety rules and regulations must change.

The IFP believes that the visibility of traffic police will go a long way in ensuring safety on our roads.

The IFP encourages all law enforcement agencies to fully enforce road safety regulations and make sure that those found guilty are brought to book, to serve as a deterrent to others who may want to follow in the same path.

Issued by IFP Leader of the Official Opposition in the KZN Legislature Blessed Gwala
