In 2015–16, Humanitarian Policy Group’s (HPG's) policy research and analysis continued to focus on the global humanitarian landscape, particularly in shaping conversations in advance of and at the World Humanitarian Summit.

Our concern for the systemic issues facing humanitarian action was reflected in our report Time to Let Go: Remaking Humanitarian Action for the Modern Era, and in our study on the politics of the Ebola response.

This was complemented by research on states’ engagement in humanitarian action—with a special focus on Saudi Arabia and China—and on humanitarian access in conflict. HPG also carried out work on refugee livelihoods in protracted displacement, focusing on Malaysia, Cameroon and countries neighbouring Syria.
