On Monday, 21 March 2022, the Democratic Alliance (DA) will be commemorating South African Human Rights Day by hosting pickets and handing over memorandums to highlight the water crisis that is being experienced in the Eastern Cape’s two metropolitan municipalities.
The people of Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City are being subjected to continuous and extended water outages, and have also been provided with contaminated water that is unfit for human consumption.
The picket in Nelson Mandela Bay will be led by DA EC Provincial Leader, Nqaba Bhanga, MPL, while DA Women’s Network (DAWN) EC Provincial Chairperson, Nomvano Zibonda, MPL, will be handing over the memorandum in Buffalo City.
The inability of these ANC-led municipalities to provide a safe and sustainable water supply to residents is a violation of our people’s basic human rights.
The DA will keep fighting to ensure that our people are not denied their human rights.
