There used to be a time when compliance was treated as a secondary business function. Today, however, keeping up with regulatory requirements has evolved into a significant organisational function, often requiring an entire team of compliance and legal professionals to fulfil its workload.

Greg Chamberlin, ‎Business Development: Compliance at LexisNexis, said companies can keep abreast of the latest regulatory requirements in their field of operations by having in place a well-coordinated compliance management system. This begins with identifying the myriad of acts and principles that apply to their organisation and taking a pro-active approach to protecting the business.

“The best defensive practice is a functional strategy that accommodates all areas of compliance - especially regulatory change management - to achieve complete risk assurance. Thankfully there are tools to help with identifying threats before they impact your business,” he added.

To get started or to build on your organisation’s compliance journey, join LexisNexis at its Compliance Business Breakfast on Wednesday, 28 June 2017, where King IV author and compliance expert Michael Judin will share his insights.

Mr Judin is a member of the King Committee and sits on the King IV Task Team. He is a director of Judin Combrinck Inc. and director of, and legal advisor to, the American Chamber of Commerce in South Africa. Mr Judin was the convenor of the Sub-Committee, which wrote the Chapter dealing with negotiation, mediation and arbitration as contained in King III, and a member of the King Committee Task Team established for the review and rewrite of the King III Corporate Governance Report and Code known as King IV.

LexisNexis offers a variety of pioneering solutions to simplify the compliance management process, including Lexis Assure and Lexis GRC, both of which will be showcased at the breakfast event. Lexis Assure is a pro-active compliance alert tool that informs you of any regulatory changes that could specifically put your business at risk, while Lexis GRC is a comprehensive reputation protection solution and the governance, risk and compliance software that executive boards can rely on.
