The DA is 45 days into our first-ever delivery of National Government outcomes, and already tremendous successes are mounting up. For examples of what good and efficient DA National Governance looks like, the Department of Home Affairs under new Minister, the DA’s Dr. Leon Schreiber, provides many.
The DA welcomes the recent successes of the Department of Home Affairs where the department has managed to clear over 50% of its backlog of 306 000 visa and permit applications, announced on Friday by Minister Schreiber.
Defeating this backlog, which has been accumulating since 2014, is a sign of DA commitment in National Government to fostering skills-immigration and investment.
The DA also welcomes the Department's commitment to eradicating the backlog by Christmas. This is more than just a bureaucratic victory; it is a move that will foster job creation, boost our economy, and revitalise our tourism sector. This progress exemplifies the DA's vision of a capable state - one built on integrity and truly committed to putting service delivery first.
What further encourages us is the fight against corruption within the Department of Home Affairs, which has already resulted in several arrests and convictions. These are critical steps in restoring public confidence in our government institutions.
As South Africans, we have reason to hope. The path to a better future is being paved by leaders who are willing to fight for the principles of good governance.
