Written submissions on the proposed National Health Insurance (NHI) by South Africans and relevant stakeholders can be made to the Portfolio Committee on Health, by no later than October 11.
The latest iteration of the NHI came under heavy scrutiny, with concerns around the roles of medical aids with the implementation of the NHI, the State’s ability to successfully implement the NHI, and the corruption risks associated with its realisation.
With the Bill, government hopes to provide universal access to quality healthcare in the country and also aims to set up a National Health Insurance Fund to buy health care services on behalf of users.
Interested parties can make written comments and indicate any interest in making oral submissions on the NHI.
Written submissions can be sent to Ms Vuyokazi Majalamba via:
- Post: Portfolio Committee on Health 3rd floor, 90 Plein Street, Cape Town 8000
- E-mail: vmajalamba@parliament.gov.za
- Fax: 086 6943279
Copies of the Bill can be obtained from Majalamba by calling (021) 403 3770, 083 709 8522 or from www.parliament.gov.za
