The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) will conduct a two-day induction workshop for its newly elected chairpersons of select committees and Whips during this opening week of the second parliamentary term, as its permanent delegates and Members of Parliament return from the constituency period.                                       
 
The workshop is intended to create an opportunity for the development of collaborative relationship between Whips and chairpersons especially on their roles and responsibilities in advancing the mandate of the NCOP in the 7th Parliament.
 
The workshop will be conducted under the draft macro strategic framework of the 7th Parliament which is crucial in guiding the committees' work towards achieving Parliament's overarching goals.
 
The chairpersons lead various committees which are appointed from the 54 permanent members of the NCOP to oversee the work of the national government departments and to deal with Bills.
