Joint Sittings to debate the President’s State of the Nation Address (SONA), public hearings on a civil aviation Bill, the review of the Women’s Charter and 44 meetings of committees are coming up on the programme of Parliament this week.
 
On Tuesday and Wednesday at 2pm, the National Assembly and the National Council of Provinces will hold Joint Sittings to enable Members of Parliament to debate President Cyril Ramaphosa’s 2021 SONA delivered on February 11. The President will reply to the debate at a Joint Sitting of the two Houses on Thursday at 2pm.
 
Members of the public will get another opportunity to participate in the legislation formulation process this week when the Portfolio Committee on Transport will hold public hearings on the Civil Aviation Amendment Bill. The hearings, are scheduled to take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at 09:00.
 
The virtual Women Charter Review Session moves to KwaZulu-Natal this week. The session will take place on Friday, 19 February at 9am in Amajuba, Harry Gwala, Ilembe Ehlanzeni, King Cetywayo, Ugu and Umgungundlovu District Municipalities.  The Women’s Charter Review Sessions are led by the Deputy Chairperson of the NCOP, Ms Sylvia Lucas and the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly, Mr Lechesa Tsenoli.
