GOOD’s leadership has informed the Executive Mayor and City Manager of the City of Tshwane that Sarah Mabotsa’s membership of the party has been terminated, and that she should be removed as a Councillor and therefore as the MMC for Economic Development.

The termination follows breaches of the party’s Constitution.  Serving as a public representative is a privilege that comes with responsibilities and accountability to the people whom representatives are elected to represent. This is a non-negotiable principle regardless of position, or proximity to an election.

In view of GOOD’s cooperation agreement with RISE Mzansi, Mabotsa will be withdrawn as the RISE Mayoral Candidate for Tshwane.  The parties stand together in their commitment to nominate ethical and credible leaders.

The Tshwane City Manager confirmed this morning that his office would inform the IEC of the council vacancy today.
