Gauteng dam levels are stable this week with an average of 99.1%, bringing a slight decrease of the province’s dam levels when compared to last year’s which stood at 100.2% at this time last year.
Most of the dams in the province are in a good state as they are above 100% full capacity mark, while others are edging close to these impressive levels. Bon Accord Dam has this week recorded 104.2%.
Bronkhorstspruit Dam has shown a slight drop from last week’s levels, moving from 97.3% last week to 96.9% this week.
Recording a sustainable trend with 99.8% this week, Rietvlei Dam is among the dams that have been stable week on week.
Roodeplaat Dam also ranks among those that have remained stable up to now sitting comfortably at 100.3% this week.
The sustainable dam levels are expected to boost the government’s campaign for water availability to communities to encourage them to practice frequent handwashing with soap and water, as a protective measure from contracting Covid-19.
Therefore, water has become central to the government’s efforts to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.
