The FF Plus calls on people to extend a hand of support to the widow of Mr. Johan Kruger, one of the two claimants in the class action court case of R79,5 billion against Transnet, who recently died of lung cancer.
Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus’ parliamentary spokesperson on Transport, says Mr. Kruger was a hero for 66 000 pensioners. He was one of only two people who were prepared to apply to the court as an individual with the risk of an order for costs to be awarded against him.
The legal team has already indicated that he will be replaced by another person as claimant in the court case.
Adv. Alberts says he often visited Mr. Kruger, also after he was already very ill and experienced a lot of pain. He was never concerned about himself, but about the court case and the suffering of his fellow pensioners who, just like he and his wife, suffered bitterly due to a shortage of money.
Mr Kruger received only R1 700 in pension at the time of his death. This, after a career of 29 years as shunter for Transnet where he consistently contributed to the pension fund.
Adv. Alberts says any donation for Mrs. Annetjie Kruger will be appreciated. For her banking details please contact Ms. Ansie Slabbert at hk@vf.co.za.
