The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA) informed the FF Plus today that a complaint of the party against the phasing out of a RSG news discussion program has been registered at the body, said Adv. Anton Alberts, the FF Plus' parliamentary spokesperson on communication.
The program is the popular "Kommentaar" which was broadcast on Sunday nights. The phasing out of this is apparently part of a process to replace old programs with new ones.
Adv. Alberts said the FF Plus is of the opinion that the SABC with this action violated its license conditions and editorial policy as the policy states that the broadcaster should at all times strive to promote fairness, impartiality and balance to accommodate a wide variety of viewpoints.
"The FF Plus welcomes the fact that ICASA responded quickly to the complaint and we now ask that it be thoroughly investigated and that action should be taken without delay to set aside this unfair actions of SABC management," says Adv. Alberts.
