The DA in eThekwini welcomes the bylaw enforcement blitz by Metro Police and other municipal departments.
Officers across the city have been seen cleaning up the streets and increasing their visibility.
The DA has often called for more boots on the ground and visible policing, and it is a welcome sight to see uniformed security personnel present in the CBD and other areas such as iSipingo.
While this exercise may be linked to the upcoming national shutdown, residents will certainly feel much safer if it were to be maintained and become the norm.
With actions of this nature, eThekwini can become a safer and more livable city that will return to its former glory of being Africa’s playground.
While being a watchdog is one of our roles as the official opposition party, we also have a responsibility to recognise the municipality's efforts when it does the right thing.
