South Africa’s embattled power utility Eskom kicked off the latest round of stage 1 load-shedding on Monday.
The rotational cuts started at 16:00 and were expected to continue until 22:00 on Monday as the utility attempted to cut 1 000 MW of generating capacity from the national grid.
Eskom reiterated its warning that “any unexpected changes on the vulnerable and constrained power system could lead to a change in the load-shedding stage at short notice”.
