The Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS) intervened in the Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality (NMMDM), which resulted in changes in the administration of the area, resulting in progress being attained after a new Administrator, Municipal Manager and Chief Financial Officer were appointed.
Agreements signed between Ngaka Modiri Molema District Municipality (NMMDM) and DWS enabling the implementation of Regional Bulk Infrastructure Grant (RBIG), Municipal Water Infrastructure Grant (MWIG), Accelerated Community Infrastructure Projects (ACIP) and related projects played a key role in moving service delivery forward.
Progressive areas of service delivery following agreements included services to Tswaing Local Municipality, Mahikeng Local Municipality, Ditsobotla Local Municipality, Ramotshere Moiloa Local Municipality and Ratlou Master Plan Project where DWS allocated R70 million for the project with the Sedibeng Water acting as the implementing agent.
These kinds of interventions in different localities across the country, working in co-operation with relevant provincial and local governments, will assist with the people of South Africa receiving basic services quicker than initially anticipated. This can also assist towards the reduction of service delivery protests.
