Minister of Justice and Correctional Services, Adv Michael Masutha has expressed condolences to the family of medical parolee, Mr Jackie Selebi who passed on this morning at Steve Biko Academic Hospital. Minister Masutha said “the importance of human life can never be over emphasized and we hope his family will gain strength to stand this test of time”.
Mr Selebi was released on medical parole in 20 July 2012. The Department of Correctional Services was satisfied with his compliance with his medical parole conditions and has been frequently hospitalised.
Further details around his passing on will be communicated by his family.
