African National Congress (ANC) presidential hopeful Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma is expected to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament (MP) on Thursday.

She will be sworn in at 12:30 by deputy speaker Lechesa Tsenoli, ANC caucus spokesperson Nonceba Mhlauli confirmed.

On Thursday morning Dlamini-Zuma, a former Cabinet member and chairperson of the African Union Commission, tweeted: "Wherever and whatever @MYANC deploys me to do to improve the lives of Africans, I shall undertake in their interest without fear or favour."

"I return determined to contribute to implementing decisions of @MYANC particularly as it relates to radically improving our people's lives."
