Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, supported by Premier Supra Mahupeloa, Ministers Pravin Gordhan and Nomvula Mokonyane, will lead the cleaning campaign in Mafikeng, in the North West Province, on Friday 18 July 2014 to mark this year’s Nelson Mandela International Day.
The cleaning campaign in Mafeking follows a call made by President Jacob Zuma during the delivery of the State of the Nation Address in which he called on the nation to embark on a national cleaning campaign of the country’s towns and cities to mark Nelson Mandela International Day. The celebrations are organised around the theme “Take action, inspire change and make every day a Mandela Day”.
In this regard, Deputy President Ramaphosa is scheduled to participate in the cleaning of the Maheking district hospital at Ngaka Modiri Molema District where he will also witness the handing over of a Faco-medical machine donated by the Bureau for Prevention of Blindness to the district hospital before participating in a cleaning effort at the local taxi rank
