Outa outraged by Brian Molefe’s reinstatement at Eskom
Dlamini-Zuma says 'De Klerk' cannot dictate South Africa
And, DA says Zuma misses deadline to supply reasons for Cabinet reshuffle
The Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse on Friday expressed “extreme outrage and disappointment” over the Eskom board’s decision to reinstate former chief executive, Brian Molefe.
This comes after Business Report today broke the news that Molefe would be returning to the power utility on Monday after its board decided to rescind his application for early retirement because it could not agree with him “on a mutually beneficial pension proposal”.
Outa chairperson Wayne Duvenage said this move by Eskom board was ludicrous, and that the organisation would possibly be seeking action against this decision.
Former African Union chairperson Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma took a dig presumably at former president FW De Klerk, saying opposition forces could not dictate to South Africa any longer.
She was at an interfaith gala dinner in Pietermaritzburg yesterday where she said the ANC cannot be told by the opposition what to do and she questioned who De Klerk was representing.
Dlamini-Zuma said that while colonisers generally left countries that they occupied, however South Africa was different.
The DA says President Jacob Zuma has missed his deadline to hand over his reasons and record of decision for his Cabinet reshuffle on March 31.
Zuma filed an application for leave to appeal the decision of the North Gauteng High Court on Wednesday evening.
DA MP James Selfe said given that President Zuma had only filed an application to appeal handing over his record of decision, he still had to provide his reasons for the axing of Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, and Deputy Finance Minister, Mcebisi Jonas.
