Making headlines:
Black DA members want Maimane to forge ahead with Zille suspension
Nigeria's President Buhari is recuperating fast
And, DA, EFF head to court over Brian Molefe
Some members of the DA are warning that leader Mmusi Maimane has to push ahead with his tough stance against former leader Helen Zille if the party is to retain credibility among black voters.
Zille is due to make submissions on why she should not be suspended for her colonialism tweets that have enraged black members in the party.
The bruising battle between Maimane and Zille has divided the party, with some leaders in the Federal Executive and provinces saying it could split the party and threaten its ambitious plans to dislodge the ANC in the 2019 general elections.
Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to fly home from London and arrive back in the country on Saturday, two presidency sources said, ending his second long break for medical leave in Britain this year.
Buhari left Abuja on May 7 and handed over power to his deputy, Yemi Osinbajo, seeking to allay concerns of a void at the helm of Africa's biggest economy.
The president, 74, travelled to Britain last month for what his office described as medical tests. Officials have refused to disclose details of his medical condition. His first absence began in January and lasted nearly two months.
The DA and the EFF will approach the High Court in Pretoria today in a bid to have Eskom CEO Brian Molefe’s re-appointment reviewed.
Molefe was reappointed as CEO of the parastatal by the Eskom board on May 12, after a dispute over a R30-million pension pay-out, and an extra R7-million for early retirement.
Public Enterprises Minster Lynne Brown had initially objected to the Eskom board's proposed R30-million pension pay-out for Molefe, but then endorsed Molefe's return, saying it was a better for the fiscus to let him go back to the job from which he had resigned in November 2016.
