Maimane to lead DA protest against State capture
The DA has announced that its leader, Mmusi Maimane, will lead a protest against the capture of the National Treasury “by Jacob Zuma’s ANC and the Gupta dynasty” on Thursday morning.
The DA said the protest, which comes amid fresh calls for President Zuma to step down, will take place outside the National Treasury headquarters in Pretoria.
The DA stated that for the past three years, Zuma and his corrupt friends have desperately sought after the keys to the National Treasury, and to the country’s R1.4-trillion national budget.
North West premier says press charges and bring evidence against the Guptas
All those who have allegations against the Gupta family must approach the police, North West Premier Supra Mahumapelo said yesterday.
He said the Special Investigating Unit, the police or the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (commonly known as the Hawks) must be provided with information to probe allegations against the Gupta family.
He told the gathering that the North West Provincial Government would disassociate itself with the Guptas once a court of law had found them guilty.
And, Manuel says coalition in 2019 could mean instability for SA
If a coalition government takes over from the ANC in 2019, the country could face a period of severe instability, former finance minister Trevor Manuel warned yesterday.
He said Johannesburg, Tshwane and Nelson Mandela Bay were weak and unstable coalitions.
He was addressing Stellenbosch University students about their role as active citizens in a society.
He highlighted the disparities in South African society and said that active involvement in sectors such as education and community safety ensured a successful democracy.
