Zuma urges youth to be radical like Mandela's generation

President Jacob Zuma has called on the youth to follow in the footsteps of former late president Nelson Mandela and his generation and achieve "radical economic transformation".

Mandela, Walter Sisulu and Oliver Tambo belonged to a special generation of young people who were radical, robust and daring, Zuma told members of the ANC Youth League in the party's Cape Town region.

He also called on the youth to take on the challenge of achieving radical economic transformation in their lifetime.

Scopa chair says Sassa CEO was forced to resign

South African Social Security Agency CEO Thokozani Magwaza was forced to resign following irreconcilable differences with social development minister Bathabile Dlamini, Standing Committee on Public Accounts chairperson Themba Godi said yesterday.

Godi said that Magwaza was actually asked to leave because he did not see eye to eye with the minister.

In a statement issued yesterday, Dlamini said Magwaza resigned following a "consultative process" led by the head of legal services Advocate Nkosinathi Dladla.

And, DA says Mbalula must give MP Khoza VIP protection

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula must provide protection to ANC MP Makhosi Khoza following multiple death threats against her, the DA said yesterday.

The party would ask Mbalula to assign her VIP protection, DA MP Zak Mbhele said.

Khoza is chairperson of Parliament's public service and administration portfolio committee.

Mbhele said that ANC Chief Whip Jackson Mthembu has written to Speaker of the National Assembly Baleka Mbete as well as ANC secretary general Gwede Mantashe about Khoza’s safety concern, yet no official commitment to protect Khoza has been forthcoming.
