The ANC Women’s League said yesterday evening that while it respected the ruling made by the Constitutional Court, it remained firmly behind President Jacob Zuma.

The Court ordered National Treasury to determine a reasonable portion that Zuma must pay for five non-security items at his private home and report back to the Court within 60 days.

The Court ordered Zuma to make the payment within 45 days following that.

The party’s secretary general, Meokgo Matuba said they would continue to uphold the ANC and its decision to seek recourse on the matter.

The ConCourt also found that the National Assembly had acted incorrectly when it set aside Madonsela's report, among other things.

Former ANC treasurer general, Mathews Phosa, has called for President Jacob Zuma to resign as the country’s leader, saying the ANC needed a new beginning.

Phosa spoke at the gala dinner and year end function of the Phalaborwa Chamber of Business yesterday.

He said Zuma as the leader of South Africa had become more controversial than before.

Hawks spokesperson Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi rubbished claims made by Pubic Protector Thuli Madonsela that she was being investigated with intent to prosecute.

Speaking to News24, Mulaudzi said the Hawks had never investigated, or intended to investigate, Madonsela. Mulaudzi said the statement by Madonsela came as a shock to the Hawks.
He said the Hawks would distance themselves from accusations made by Madonsela.

Also making headlines:

Thuli Madonsela said the Constitutional Court judgment was something many of them would treasure for the rest of their lives.

Malema says the ANC has been 'zombiefied'.
