The DA in George welcomes the recent announcement by Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) that it has earmarked R21,7 billion for upgrades to six of the country’s most important airports, including George Airport.
The DA in George is also excited that George Airport, which handles over 600 000 passengers a year and is at the heart and core of the Western Cape’s Garden Route District tourist economy, is set to benefit from this airport infrastructure investment that has been described “as the largest capital investment by ACSA since preparing for the 2010 Soccer World Cup”.
According to ACSA the capital investment which primarily targets refurbishments and improvements, aims to enhance, amongst other things, the efficiency, safety and overall passenger experience at these airports.
Further, according to ACSA, it plans to, over the next two years commence with the expansion plans to the George Airport terminal as soon as possible.
The DA in George looks forward to the tourist and business economy of the Garden Route District reaping the benefits of these expansion plans to the George Airport terminal.
