Tomorrow, 19 October 2021, the DA will be staging a picket outside the Free State High Court in Bloemfontein as former Premier of the Free State, Ace Magashule, appears once again for his charges on corruption in the controversial issue relating to a R255 million contract for the assessment and removal of asbestos roofs and/or housing.
The event will be attended by DA Member of the Free State Legislature, Leona Kleynhans, who first exposed the asbestos matter in 2015 and then laid the criminal charges against the former Premier, Ace Magashule, as well as the former Mayor of Mangaung, Olly Mlamleli, with the Hawks in this asbestos tender case.
The trial commenced on 11 August 2021 in Bloemfontein with Magashule facing 74 charges of fraud, corruption and money-laundering in the Free State High Court, together with fifteen others.
The DA want to see a speedy trial and want the political architects of this asbestos tender case, who caused hardship for the 32 500 families who still live under life-threatening asbestos roofs in the province, to be held accountable.
Justice delayed is justice denied.
