Following an oversight visit conducted in January, the DA has compiled a list of solutions for the municipality’s water and electricity crisis, tabled at the first Council meeting of the year.
The major concerns for residents are the continued cable theft and tampering with municipal infrastructure. To this end, the community suggested that aluminium cables be used to curb cable theft in the area.
On 17 February 2023 the control panel at the golf course borehole was burned out. This has left residents without a reliable source of clean drinking water. No water tankers have been supplied by the municipality to assist with the crisis.
The installation of aluminium cables, supply of water tankers and the installation of more permanent water tanks for emergency situations are some of the mitigation actions the municipality can implement.
We will continue to fight for service delivery and ensure that the municipality is held accountable to the community. The DA is committed to good governance and therefore urges all residents to register to vote in the 2024 National and Provincial Government elections.
