The Democratic Alliance (DA) and South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) board chairperson Mbulaheni Maguvhe will on Friday argue the merits of Maguvhe’s attempt to get an interdict against Parliament's ad hoc committee looking into the public broadcaster's board.
Proceedings would begin in the Western Cape High Court at 14:30.
Maguvhe, the board's last remaining member, on Sunday filed a late application for an interdict against the ad hoc committee. It was due to start its formal hearings on Tuesday, but postponed this for a week pending the outcome of the interdict application.
He cited alleged "bias and prejudice" against him from committee members, including the DA MP Phumzile van Damme, Economic Fredom Fighters Chief Whip Floyd Shivambu, and Inkatha Freedom Party MP Liesl van der Merwe.
The DA on Thursday called Maguvhe’s bid for an interdict a last-ditch attempt to cling to power.
