The Democratic Alliance in KwaZulu-Natal congratulates the newly sworn in Public Works and Infrastructure Minister, Dean Macpherson. He is one of 6 DA Ministers who will play a critical role rescuing this country under the newly formed Government of National Unity.
Macpherson takes up his ministerial position with a wealth of experience in governance dating back to his time as an eThekwini councillor in 2009 and later serving as Caucus Chief Whip. He has also served as spokesperson for various portfolios in the eThekwini council. Macpherson has also guided the Democratic Alliance in KZN through his position as Provincial Chairperson.
Other portfolios held by Macpherson include Deputy Shadow Minister of Trade and Industry from 2014 to 2017 and later being promoted to Shadow Minister of that portfolio from 2017 to 2019 – a clear indication of his outstanding commitment.
Macpherson takes up his role of Public Works and Infrastructure Minister in the 7th administration at a time when South Africans are demanding accountability following years of non-delivery of services. Our country needs to get working again and this can only happen through active, competent leadership.
Describing the country as a massive construction site shows that Minister Macpherson is ready to get to work and reconstruct the current state of affairs.
The DA, through it’s Ministers, Deputy Ministers and MECs will, as part of the Government of National Unity, and Government of Provincial Unity ensure effective governance on a national and provincial level.
Issued by Francois Rodgers - DA KZN Provincial Leader
