The DA in Mogalakwena Municipality with the help of local businesses, Koty Pompe and Nedan Oils, has assisted in resolving the recent disruption to water supply in Mokopane by procuring and providing the municipality with the appropriate material to repair a burst pipe.
On November 25, 2023, a burst water pipe was reported to the municipality by DA Councillor Maartens, due to malfunctioning valves in the area the municipality had to close the reservoirs of the entire town to facilitate the repair of the burst pipe.
The DA councillor remained on site on November 26, 2023, to support the technical team and although repairs were initially completed, it was discovered that incorrect clamps had been used, leading to a significant leak. Once again, the reservoirs had to be closed, leaving residents without water.
The collaborative efforts of the DA and the support of local businesses resulted in the reservoirs being reopened, providing much needed relief to the residents and businesses in Mogalakwena Municipality.
The DA remains committed to ensuring that no household or business is left without water, especially during extreme weather conditions such as this heatwave. We will continue working hand in hand with communities and local businesses to address critical issues such as water shortages
