The DA initiated investigation by the Public Service Commission (PSC) into the issue of the 1823 senior managers in the public service with no qualifications for the positions that they currently occupy has now been concluded.
This was confirmed by the PSC in a letter dated 5 March 2024 addressed to the DA and providing an update on the progress made in this crucial investigation that the DA requested the PSC to initiate and conduct in September 2022.
The letter from the PSC also reveals that investigation by the PSC, into the issue, entailed an analysis of the qualifications data that it received from the various government departments.
In the letter the PSC further indicates that it is busy drafting the investigation report and should be in a position to submit the final report, on the investigation, to the Portfolio Committee on Public Service and Administration in April 2024.
Although the DA welcomes the latest update by the PSC, it really hopes that the picture that will emerge from the final report into this crucial investigation, by the PSC, will not only be an accurate one but also one that will compel the PSC to provide concrete and finite recommendations that will finally address the persistent issue of the absence or lack of qualifications in senior positions within the public service.
