The Democratic Alliance (DA) in the Eastern Cape has officially launched our #RescueEC campaign, aimed at assisting people across the province to take their future into their own hands by fixing their communities.

The campaign was officially endorsed today at the DA EC Provincial Council meeting in Gqeberha.

Our mission to rescue the Eastern Cape from decades of corruption, decay and mismanagement by the ANC will not be easy. Communities across the province are broken to such an extent that we cannot do it alone.

We will, therefore, reach out to the whole of society to partner with us and join us in our mission to fix and rescue our communities across the province.

Our councillors will be the link and reach out to civic organisations, churches, schools, the business sector, private security companies and many more to ensure that we all work together to put the needs of our communities first. Our councillors are not only politicians, but are first and foremost public representatives, and are already working on the ground with residents.

Whether through clean-up campaigns, painting street markings or buildings, filling potholes, or cutting grass – every effort, even though it might seem insignificant, can have a positive impact.

The #RescueEC campaign will start on Saturday, 26 August 2023, and will continue on the last Saturday of every month thereafter. We will advertise pre planned activities taking place across the province so that members of the public can participate in activities closest to them.

It is our intention to inspire and empower citizens to take ownership of their communities by joining hands with the DA. This whole of society approach being championed by the DA is the only way to rescue our communities from their current decline.

The 2024 national and provincial government elections present a unique opportunity for the people of the Eastern Cape to place our province on a pathway to prosperity.

Uniting behind the DA is the only way to rescue the Eastern Cape from further collapse.

Issued by Andrew Whitfield MP - DA EC Provincial Leader
